Shot as an experiment in collaborative, synchronous filmmaking, First Tuesday closely observes a diverse group of Americans as they watch the results of the November 2020 election unfold on screen. Bringing together the work of 15 filmmakers across the country, each documenting friends, family and colleagues in their immediate environments, we watch as they endure the suspense, delight, boredom and agony of one of the most emotionally charged election nights in recent history. Focusing on people rather than pundits, emotions rather than facts, the film is a poetic meditation on the hopes and fears of a people on the cusp of determining who will lead the country for the next four years.
